Ateneo de Manila extended its reign in the UAAP juniors’ basketball tournament Sunday at the Big Dome after outscoring UST in their finals game three. It was Ateneo’s 18th UAAP juniors’ title overall and the Blue Eaglets’ eighth under coach Jamike Jarin. The son of former PBA star Bong Ravena and Ateneo Blue Eaglets’ main man, Kiefer Ravena bagged his second Finals MVP award.

The rivalry of Ateneo Blue Eagles and La Salle Green Archers of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and one of the most watched rivalry in Philippine amateur basketball. This no-bearing game is a good preview for the incoming UAAP season. After regulation, both teams had it 65-65. They are now playing each other in over time.

University of Santo Tomas, a member of University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) will have their own coliseum. The coliseum, which is planned to accommodate around five thousand guests is estimated to be finished on 2011. The most probable start of construction will be late 2008 or early 2009. The plan of constructing a coliseum is also in-line with the celebration of UST’s 400 years of education.
