2008 Olympic Bloggers: Dan Taylor

Dan Taylor is an American shot putter. He is currently sponsored by Nike. Taylor is currently competing around the world in track and field.
What do you enjoy most about blogging as an athlete?
What I enjoy most about blogging as an athlete is that I get to say whatever I want, I get the freedom to talk about whatever I want and have my own opinions. I also enjoy the fact that people like what I have to say, even if it’s ranting or just a story about my down time. It’s funny to me that people are interested in that stuff or me in general, I’m just a Shot putter, but someone’s mundane is another person extraordinary.
What’s the best moment of your sports career?
To date I would have to say it was winning my first conference title in the shot put in college. I done lots over other great things, NCAA titles, make Pan AM and World Teams, but that first Big 10 Title was probably my most memorable win.
What are you most looking forward to in Beijing?
I’m not sure; I guess just the whole atmosphere of the Games. I’ve been to China before so I’ve already experienced their culture. I think it would defiantly have to be just the competition of the Games and the whole ceremony involved with it.
Anything else we need to know about you?
I have 2 dogs, a Boxer/Ridgeback mix and a Sheppard/Red coon dog Mix. I work on my house in my spare time, and I’m always tiring to come up with a new scheme in my down time, for example: opening an ice cream shop, flipping houses, graphic design, writing, and other random things…I have a lot of spare time.
