For now XP. I agree that Vista looks and is good but, XP still does the job for me.
As I have experienced, one would need a Vista box with 2GB of memory that would run just as smooth as an XP machine with a memory of 1GB.
For new PCs, it is recommended that you go Vista. As per support issue, XP will have limited support from Microsoft in a year time and you do not want that for your new PC.
If you really want to go Vista with your legacy machine, be advised to exceed Vista’s requirements to have a smoother experience.
Another thing to note is flavor, Vista offers – Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate. Know what will you need and determine what will your machine functions for and check if your choice of Vista can deliver it for you.
Not in a year time but, words about Windows 7, the next generation of Windows after Vista is spreading in the world wide web. One website said Windows 7 is expected within 2 to 4 years.
With that, I’ll leave you with your choice – to stay with XP, migrate to Vista OR wait for Windows 7.
Did I mention Linux? Ha!

I still find Vista better as there are new features plus the eye-candy ^^ besides, it wouldn’t hurt as long as you have the required specs.
Thanks for the visit by the way. ^^
Yes, I agree that so long as you have the required requirements or better yet have more than the required, Vista is good. :)
i’m using a vista with a 1G memory and it’s torture.
i’d go for a mac, though.
