Christmas Wish List
by admin ~ December 10th, 2006. Filed under: Life.Remember how, when we were kids, we used to get excited at the mere thought of Christmas? And for some of us excitable lot, it’s not even because of the heartwarming story of nativity. I mean no disrespect, of course, but when we were kids, the nativity story holds as much water in us as the goodies that we stand to amass from our generous godparents. But as we grow older and (for some of us, at least) a tad wiser, our Christmas wishes tend to gravitate towards the intangibles. For some reason, some of us get our kicks dispensing abstract concepts such as love, peace on earth, forgiveness in our hearts, goodwill to mankind, and other fancy-schmancy words. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Turth be told, I’m all for peace, hope, forgiveness, and love. Especially Love. I love LOVE.
At some point in our lives - coming from the chocolates, toys, lollipops, and shirts period of our cloistered childhood - we become more perceptive of what the world and humanity need. And then for some reason, we morph into our materialistic alter-ego once again and start wanting toys, clothes, gadgets, and all those fabulous pop culture finds that at best would easily cost us an arm and a leg. And I would hasten to say that I think I am at that stage, as of writing. But my list, you’ll be very surprised to know in a little while, is not at all that grandiose. Except maybe for the sheer magnitude of the list, I doubt if the items listed are even considered obscenely expensive. Well, what did you expect? Like moth to a flame, I am drawn to cheap things.
